One Good Thing A Day – Project Day 28 – Children’s Quilt Success!

I was so pleased in class today because the children absolutely loved the quilt.  They were all curious to see and touch the inside of the quilt and went crazy decorating it  *^_^*

Here’s the end result:

One Good Thing A Day – Project Day 27 – Tokyo at 5am

I got up at 5am because I couldn’t go back to sleep after a nightmare I had -how annoying.

I decided to get up and have a drink of water when I noticed this outside:

Quite pretty and no smog for once (>_<)

This along with our little visiting bird singing in the morning totally relaxed me  *^_^*

One Good Thing A Day – Project Day 26 – Soy and Spinach

In an effort of trying to eat healthy without killing our budget in Tokyo we try to use a few simple items, perhaps “splurge” on one item every now and then and try to create something delicious.  We also try to do this in an Iron Chef kind of way by using one main item for the whole meal.

This time we got spinach. While we don’t race eachother for completing dishes, we do work as a good team by splitting the work -so I made pasta with spinach and soy cream sauce while Jeff made rolled chicken with spinach and cheese.

What a surprisingly delightful meal it was!  It’s a shame we wouldn’t market well as Iron Chefs….mainly because I would be Iron Chef Canada, Poland and Japan while Jeff would be Iron Chef Indonesia and New Zealand….. (>_<)

Anyway, this is the end result:

For those of you who are interested, the recipe will be posted soon!

One Good Thing A Day – Project Day 25 – English Class Quilt

I had a lesson to prepare for the letter “Q” and from what I found online, it’s a letter that many people have trouble with and choose just to hand the children printouts -I’m not a huge fan of giving little ones printouts, so I decided to plan something fun and creative for the kids.

I made a felt quilt *^_^*

I purchased one large felt sheet with a few packs of pre-cut colourful squares.

After arranging and sewing the squares, they looked like this.

Then, using children’s pastel crayons, I decorated the white side.  *The crayons will be given to the children so they can decorate one square by themselves*

As I always love to use two shades for words, I outlined with a darker shade and coloured the words in with a lighter one….

…decorated it a little more for fun….

…placed it outside in, sewed along the sides and flipped it back out.

I purposely left the bottom edge open, so i can show the children the inside…

like this!  My kids are always so curious about the materials I make for them that they have to hold and observe  them.

I’ll see how it goes this Sunday!

One Good Thing A Day – Project Day 24 – Strawberries yay! *^_^*

Had some lovely strawberries left from Valentine’s -and for us, it’s a very special thing to have since they are quite expensive here!

So great!
