Chiyogami Paper

Chiyogami literally means "thousand generation paper" (chiyo = "thousand generation" and gami = "paper"). It is printed paper with layered inks (either by hand, silkscreen or modern machine) to create beautiful patterns and colour combinations.

While many also know the term yuzen washi, yuzen was actually originally used for textile printing in ancient Japan. Today, it is considered as chiyogami as well.
